Designer Series: The Art of the Design with ASR Design Studio
Another month, another wonderful designer to enter our studio! This month we welcomed Ariel from @ASRDesignStudio! She is a soon-to-be mother and a true Californian who loves nature, the beach, hiking and paddleboarding. She takes inspiration from life and content she absorbs from social media to combine breathtaking designs. But keep her away from monochromatic rooms and things that are super trendy because those are part of her “no’s” in interior design.
A little bit about her amazing professional life is that she is a business owner who has over 16 years of experience in the interior design field. We were blown away with that she not only has a bachelor’s degree of sciences in interior design but also a master’s in interior architecture! While working in a large design firm she realized she didn’t have the creative freedom she wanted, so she set out on her own to build, what is now ASR Design Studio and has been in business for 5 years. The design studio mostly caters to the Southern San Diego area, but they offer e-design for anyone anywhere. Their projects can take up to 5 months to a year depending on the needs of the customer and how intricate the redesign is. She really takes pride in delivering what her clients envision for their space and how to bring it out of conception into reality. This new design is no different than that of a client. We are absolutely thrilled to bits to see what she’ll bring to our pieces!
The Plan
We provided Ariel with the Niki Modular Sofa in Tweed Gray for the first set, and the Francisco Dining Table in Gray paired with the Crispin Side Chairs in Marine Blue for the second set.
The Prep
She styled each room using a blend of Mor Furniture accents as well as her own décor pieces brought in from her collection.
Set One: The Niki Modular Sofa in Tweed gray
When we saw how Ariel styled the Niki Modular Sofa, our jaws hit the floor! Ariel’s design is so unique and colorful and so much different than anything we’ve brought to the studio so far. Not only did she make the room feel lived in and playful, but it is also practical and natural. She used so many of our items and styled them in a way that we would have never thought of. The Niki was edited to her chosen customization and it did not disappoint. She chose to use the Niki 1 Arm Chair (left facing), Niki Armless Chair, and the Niki Ottoman which is an ode to a uniquely styled one arm sofa we know and love. The Niki collection can be purchased to tailor your space and budget. Individual pieces can be mixed and matched to create the perfect seating area in your living room.
If there’s one thing Ariel incorporates into her designs, it’s color. This living space is bursting with so many fun and vibrant hues. “Don’t be afraid of color,” she says. And boy was she right! The colors pop out and create a fun bohemian Southern California beach feel that you can easily relax in. She brought in wall art depicting beautiful sceneries of natural landscapes of rugged wild nature and added a splash of geometric blocks of color through the pillows, throw blankets, and books that help warm up the space against the neutral gray sofa. The Kisper Coffee Table in Brown and the Kisper End Table in Brown bring in retro vibes with its sleek design and chestnut finish. She styled the end table by adding the compact but shapely Ancel Table Lamp, stacked books and dainty décor for a more lived in look. We loved how she filled out the Posh Tray in Gold with greenery peeking through the coffee table and plants added throughout the set bringing in warmth and cozy. We loved how the Lanport Accent Table in Champagne White is tucked behind the sofa but can still be easily accessed – a true versatile piece. It’s the little touches by Ariel that pull the room together and you can tell this room was designed by someone who is experienced with room structure and impeccable planning.
